ABOUT

ABOUT THIS PROJECT

1-2 Simple Cooking wants to revolutionize the way singles and couples cook and eat at home. We understand the challenges that come along with cooking for one or one other person -- food waste, meal monotony, the dreaded clean up! It's difficult as it is to learn how to cook, and even harder to maintain on a daily basis.

That's why we're here -- to teach you basic tips, simple recipes, and techniques to simplify your life and empower you to become the home chef you've always wanted to be. Cooking should never be fussy and food should always be fun and approachable.

Join us and discover easy, wholesome recipes. Explore ways you can simplify your life in the kitchen through our videos and tips. We'll teach you how to pick out produce at the store, prep your ingredients, effective storage tips so you get more bang for your buck, and more. What are you waiting for? Dive on in and let's get started!

ABOUT JOY

I'm a food-loving fanatic with an unhealthy obsession for everything dark chocolate. I'm a firm believer that cooking and eating should not only be fun, but wholesome and nourishing.

After running a food blog (Joylicious) for the past four years, I wanted to combine food photography with my love for cooking to create a place for singles and couples to learn and grow in the kitchen.  I majored in Biology and Kinesiology in college, which accelerated my interest in the way we can nourish our bodies through food. With over 15 years of cooking experience as a home chef, I've learned a trick or two that helps make cooking at home less intimidating and actually fun! My cooking motto is keeping things simple, easy and delicious.

 Q: What's your favorite season?

A: Hands down, Fall. A lot goes on in the garden and the weather is perfect here in Texas.

Q:  If you were a fruit or vegetable, what would you be?

A: Passionfruit -- bold, weird, and plenty surprising :)

Q: Sweet or Salty? Spicy or Mild?

A: Both and definitely spicy!

Q. One ingredient you can't live without.

A: Maldon sea salt.

Q. Your favorite food memory.

A. Exploring the street food scene with my mother in Shanghai. She currently lives there so she knows all the good vendors to go to!

Q. What's one kitchen tool you can't live without?

A. My chef's knife -- I even take it camping with me.

Q. What could you eat forever?

A. Oh geez that's tough. Can I pick three things? Waffle-cut Fries, Bahn Mi and a proper bowl of Tonkotsu Ramen.

Q: Reminisce.. Your favorite childhood snack.

Peeled grapes.

Q. Tell us about your most memorable meal.

I have too many memorable meals. LOL. There is one memorable dinner from last year that I had with a group of good friends. We had a Chinese-style hotpot party at my house. Most of my friends had never really eaten that way before where you cook the ingredients in front of you in a big pot of simmering broth. It was a great dinner -- good times, good laughs, good food, good friends -- we all still talk about that night!

ABOUT TIFFANY

I am a foodie with frequent cravings for sashimi and Bubbies' sakura-flavored mochi, and I have a weakness for Thai tea. I enjoy working on film sets and currently reside in Austin, TX.

I'm a graduate from The University of Texas at Austin with a B.S. in Radio-TV-Film. When I started living on my own in 2006, I encountered many challenges cooking just for myself. It was then when I realized a practical need, and the concept to create a cooking show webseries catered to singles and couples was born. It's been a very long but fun journey developing this project with Joy, and I'm really excited to finally be able to present to you 1-2 Simple Cooking. My hope is that this show will inspire and encourage healthy life changes for many, including myself, in the way we eat and cook at home.

Q: Chocolate or Vanilla? Cold or Hot?

Chocolate. Mmm.. Cold when it's hot outside, and hot when it's cold outside.

Q: Donut or Cronut?

Hmm. I've never had a cronut before. Now I'll have to try one before I can answer this question.

Q: What's your favorite mid-night snack?

I try not to eat before I sleep, but when I do, I'll have to say... Cuties Clementines =)

Q: The best place to eat in Austin.

Gosh. Too hard to pick just one. I'd say my favorite restaurants include Annie's Cafe, Galaxy Cafe, La Barbeque, Asia Cafe, and Musashino.

Q: Your favorite guilty pleasure, be honest...

It's a tie between Thai Tea and Arby's Roast Beef Sandwich with a Dr. Pepper and their seasoned, curly fries.

THANK YOU!

We'd like to send a shout out to our family, friends, and Kickstarter backers, who've been our cheerleaders these last few years as we've been working hard to make this project become reality. Without your faith in us, support, encouragement, help, time, and donations, this project wouldn't be possible.  We are humbled and grateful to be surrounded by so many wonderful people in our lives.
